IPG Photonics Corporation, the leader in high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers used in materials processing and other diverse applications is looking for an Automation Systems Engineer to join our growing Genesis team in Davenport, IA. In this role you ll be responsible for performing activities associated with the design, programming and startup of automated systems.
Work with Project Manager and customer in preparation of system quotations and runoff. This includes lead engineering, software development, process development and robot programming.
Technical resource to customers, Design Engineers, and Project Managers
Provide consulting, lead engineering of new designs for customers and Genesis products
Use PLC and various other controls prog. for standard products and custom equipment
Debugging operation of the workcell and establish a fully functional and safe machine
Educate Engineering staff on the standard product software and system operation
Evaluate, select and develop new applications for emerging technologies (maintaining Genesis unique value proposition to the automation market)
Communicate with customers, both internal and external, to thoroughly understand their needs and to clearly communicate the proposed solution
Documenting and organizing procedures and interfacing of process equipment
Responsible for system startups at customer facility
Establishing the maximum performance of the system
Add/insert redlines to any Job drawing package during build/programming
Recommend changes that affect more than one job or process per ECO/ECR instruction
Request purchased materials/job additions/changes in accordance with PCO instruction
Evaluate safety and functionality/risk/compliance associated with Job. (ISO 10218-2)
Purchase on behalf of the company according to spend policy
Complete assigned repair/installation work onsite
Inspect for fitness of use
AS in Engineering required (BS in Engineering preferred)
One year of relevant work experience
Honest, trustworthy team player with good interpersonal skills
Ability to perform mechanical modifications to equipment
Multi-tasking skills as you will work on several projects in various stages of completion.
Travel required to various customers facilities.
Adhere to company policies and procedures and observe and follow all safety regulations
