Bill of Materials Specialist
Reports To: Bill of Materials Manager


The primary role of the Bill of Materials Specialist is to support the BOM team by acting as a liaison between production & engineering in order to fine tune BOM kits and structures that ensures proper delivery of materials to the production line. Issuing daily reported material usage along with issuing Work in Process (WIP) requirements in sync with the BOM's will also be an essential function of this role to ensure that proper job order costing and inventory balances are maintained.

Essential Functions:

  1. Collect Daily Material Usage Reporting Sheets from Various Production Departments & Enter Transaction Data into M2M to relieve material from inventory
  2. Issue bulk materials per WIP production flow to ensure real time inventory balances
  3. Creation and Structuring of Bill of Materials (Kits & Routings) for Standards & Options
  4. Working with & familiarity with Part Numbering System and Schemes
  5. Work closely with Production/Engineering, both on the production floor and in the office
  6. Work with Engineering, Production/Manufacturing, and Purchasing Departments in BOM Development & Troubleshooting Kit Configurations and Material Requirements
  7. Provide support to Engineering, Customer Care and Sales as required to support custom orders. This includes answering questions, phone calls, emails and helping resolve any order issues or discrepancies.
  8. Work with Engineering to define product requirements where necessary to support custom orders
  9. Work with inventory variances to fine tune problem areas within the BOM's
  10. Provide support in implementing processes to reduce waste and inefficiency
  11. Other responsibilities as requested by Manager

Job Requirements

Required Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:

  1. Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment - Boat Manufacturing Preferred
  2. ERP experience required - Made2Manage software experience preferred
  3. Critical thinking skills
  4. Excellent organizational skills
  5. Detail oriented
  6. Advanced computer skills and knowledge (Microsoft Office and M2M ERP)
  7. The ability to multi-task
  8. Good verbal and written communication skills
  9. Exposure to Lean/Kaizen/Continuous Improvement Principles
  10. Familiarity of the link between BOM and Finance/Accounting
  11. Dependable, Honest & Hardworking

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
