SUMMARY

Performs cleaning, sanitation and housekeeping tasks per verbal and written work instructions. Will train, instruct and mentor other employees. May review the work and report on lower level employees. May be responsible for material distribution to other employees.

Performs custodial duties as assigned Dusting, wet mopping floors, vacuuming; cleaning and

dusting various surfaces such as furniture, wall ledges,

windows, mirrors, shelves, countertops, bathtubs, showers,

toilets and sinks. Changing and making beds.

Removes trash. Need to use a 6 foot ladder frequently

to change curtains.All personnel who

perform routine custodial waste removal and cleaning

activities in hazardous drug (HD) handling areas must be

trained in appropriate procedures to protect themselves

and the environment to prevent HD contamination.

Responsible for cleaning project coordination,

distributing equipment and trains new

employees to institutional standards. Reviews area and makes appropriate choice for cleaning process

and materials to be used. Instructs others on processes and

demonstrates cleaning techniques. Is a department resource on

tasks.

Ability to do floor work, operate TransVac system. Fills in and

provides Floor Care work as needed.

Demonstrates reliability, dependability and

willingness to assist. Shows up for work on time and ready to perform assigned

tasks. Takes breaks as assigned, works in assigned areas and

completes assigned tasks in allotted time. Takes instruction

for changed work assignments.

Applies cleaning/housekeeping knowledge and skills to clean per given Work Instructions which may include:
Sweeping, mopping, trash removal, washing walls, floors ceilings and windows.
Operating electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners and wet vacuum.
All surfaces are properly cleaned, products and equipment are removed and properly stored, and supplies are well stocked.
Must have proper coordination and motor skills in order to work with hand tools and electro-mechanical tools as job requires to perform assigned tasks.
Work in a bent or stooping position and occasionally crawl.
Performs patient room/exam room cleaning with time constraints in accordance with work instructions.
Capable of performing trash technician duties.
As required follow proper procedures as related to Joint Commission (covers trash during transportation and uses proper protective equipment).
As required performs removal of all recyclable materials.
As required maintains and cleans dock areas.
As required safe operation the TransVac System.

Learns and understands Service Level Agreements, departmental policies and procedures and carries them out through proper responses and quality outcomes to ensure customer satisfaction
Sets priorities and manages work and time through communication with team leader, team members and customers to satisfy their requests.
Monitors own area and inspect work completed.
Maintains hallways in a clear and safe manner at all times.
Response to removal of hallway obstructions (standard: 15 minutes).
Communicates with customers in response to concerns and requests.
Verbal communication on an ongoing basis with customers to determine current status of deliverables and to learn about customer needs.
Identifies and reports life safety deficiencies on a daily basis.

Must be able to communicate with co-workers in a clear, pleasant, and understandable manner.
Communicate with team members and team leader on identified needs for improvement.
Collaborative effort with team members to solve problems and deficiencies.
Assists in training and development of other personnel.
Assist with staff supervision during the team leader's absence.

Must be able to work in a dusty environment, frequently in very cramped and unpleasant surroundings.
Some work may necessitate exposure to outside weather.
Must be able to walk from one area of the complex to another to visually inspect work to be performed.
