Seeking an experienced Civil/Site Engineer to join our growing Structural and Civil/Site Engineering Department in the firm's Buffalo, NY office. The candidate will work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment on a wide variety of projects for commercial, industrial, municipal, academic/institutional, and residential clients. This position will play an active role in the development and execution of civil/site projects along with the growth and direction of the Department.


  • Perform site investigation and due diligence research, including historic property uses, utility records, agency and environmental regulations, and site visits to establish comprehensive site design and development guidelines
  • Review municipal zoning, land development ordinances, and applicable agency regulations to determine design criteria and project impacts
  • Design safe and efficient sites to meet project and client needs, including vehicular and pedestrian circulation, ADA requirements, grading and drainage, pavements, roadways and parking lots, walkways, stairs, ramps, retaining walls, athletic facilities, and other site elements
  • Design site utility systems including storm and sanitary sewers, culverts, pump stations, on-site sanitary treatment systems, domestic and fire water services, backflow prevention devices. Coordinate with utility providers, determine and resolve utility conflicts
  • Design erosion and sediment controls and determine construction sequencing
  • Design stormwater management facilities, including quality and quantity control measures, best management practices, green infrastructure, and prepare Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans
  • Prepare calculations, engineering reports, technical memoranda, and other documents necessary to execute projects and obtain municipal/regulatory approvals
  • Produce construction documents, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules
  • Oversee and work with junior staff to ensure successful project execution and delivery
  • Coordinate Department work efforts with other in-house disciplines/staff and outside consultants
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with municipalities and agencies having jurisdiction over projects
  • Assist with business development activities, prepare proposals and other marketing materials
  • Coordinate with clients on overall project development, schedule, and financials


  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • NYS Professional Engineer license, with ability to obtain licensure in neighboring states
  • Minimum 8 years of documented professional experience; background in a full-service A/E environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of municipal planning and zoning processes
  • Knowledge of NYS stormwater management regulations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Team-minded, highly motivated and self-starting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-discipline team
  • Proficient with site design and production software
