Carroll White Rural Electric Membership Corporation (REMC) is a non-profit, member-owned, electric utility. We provide service to members in nine counties from two facility locations. Carroll White REMC's mission is creatively enhancing our community through safety and service.

RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Director of Engineering, you will provide engineering services on various distribution matters including substation design, distribution studies, general distribution planning, and more.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leads projects to meet their defined objectives with measurable outcomes that demonstrate their success. This includes but is not limited to analyzing the needs of projects, document requirements, develop a plan to meet the project objectives, evaluating and managing project communication plans, and implementing change management techniques throughout each project.
  • Develops a positive working relationship with and an understanding of the work performed by all functions across the organization to meet their stated and unstated needs.
  • Negotiates and administers vendor/consultant contracts and agreements (such as engineering firms, G&T, railroads, government (i.e. IURC, IDEM, INDOT, FERC, NERC, etc) in collaboration with other departments.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors budget for each functional area including operational budgets, capital budgets, and long-term work plans.
  • Develop long-term plans, organizational goals, and policy recommendations by collaborating with senior leadership and the Board of Directors to optimize member value.
  • Develop, assign, and monitor strategic objectives that impact organizational goals with functional area supervisors.
  • At all times testing and evaluating practices and methods that may or may not best fit the Coop to be a leader in the industry
  • Proficient in developing and administrating tariff designs and actively participates in new tariff designs - wholesale and retail.
  • Provides engineering review and assistance for member agreements, as well as any future agreements.
  • Manages the AMI and OMS and other suite of engineering resources to their fullest potential, setting above average goals.
  • Manages SCADA and the load management system.
  • Perform technical and administrative functions for trouble shooting analysis for power quality issues. This includes but is not limited to: analyzing circuits, sizing equipment, and problem solving.
  • Applies and provides information on the use and application of Engineering Guides, Construction Standards, National Electric Safety Code, NBIC and ASME in standard construction projects.
  • Effectively monitors and manages CWREMC's relationship with the G&T. Reviews power bills, contracts, tariffs and programs to deliver the greatest benefit to CWREMC and its membership.
  • Assist in key account relationships.
  • Supports efficiency programs and creates new resources and relationships for members to get the most value from their energy purchases.
  • Facilitating the safest work environment for all employees and the public.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related field or considerable relevant experience in electric utility engineering
  • 5 or more years of experience in managing engineering projects with background experience in engineering, project controls, construction, project coordination, or other closely related discipline
