Director of Network Building

Purpose: The Director of Network Building leads efforts to inform, connect, engage, strengthen and grow the diverse array of stakeholders that make up PN's networks and the economic resilience and justice field at large - all with the goal of maximizing the reach, relevance and impact of PN's ideas and issues, and our ability to mobilize the field for positive change. The Director oversees both the broad field engagement function across the organization, which supports and informs the work of other teams in their interactions with the field around learning and advocacy, and the mechanics of managing a large network with sub-networks.

Accountability: Reports to the Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Network Building


Organizational Leadership

Participate in the implementation of organizational initiatives and strategies
Work in partnership with other Directors to drive forward PN's strategic framework and mission to invoke positive change and impact in the communities we seek to serve.
Serve as an organizational spokesperson, presenting, analyzing, translating, case-making, and seeking collaboration opportunities with new and existing audiences.
Work closely with the Development team to advance and provide stewardship for new and existing relationships, potential engagements, and other funding opportunities.
Work in partnership with the Director of Racial Wealth Equity Strategy to inform and guide Network and Community engagement activities and partnership recruitment efforts that center racial wealth equity.
Engage in Directors' Council and Senior Management meetings and cross-team strategy and planning sessions

Team Management and Development

Direct and oversee the business of the team's portfolio through effective leadership and management of strong internal and external relationships, quality control, marketing, and responsible fiscal management
Participate in the development of team strategic plans, goals, and objectives, ensuring alignment with those of the organization
Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring for team members; foster teamwork and a collaborative culture; encourage team's continued professional development.
Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and orientation of all department team members

Portfolio Management

Advise, inform, and execute on PN's network engagement strategy, engaging staff and securing buy-in around vision, strategy, execution, and alignment.
Lead strategy and work planning efforts for the Network Building Team, ensuring successful implementation of team projects and initiatives and achievement of short- and long-term milestones through goal-setting and planning, monitoring progress, budget management and effective deployment/reallocation of resources.
Manage relevant grant projects as needed, including contributing to proposal development and other fundraising activities; develop project budgets, track project outcomes, participate in funder stewardship calls, and contribute to funder reports.
Conceive of and execute on opportunities to support the learning, advocacy, capacity and coalition-building, impact assessment, and messaging needs of PN's networks and the field at large; provide guidance and structure for the expansion and strengthening of network membership.
Proactively and systematically engage with staff across the organization to support field-related aspects of their work, and to ensure ongoing tactical and strategic integration of field engagement elements into other organizational efforts.
Support strategic partnerships with external organizations and coalitions in furtherance of PN's goals.
Support in the content planning and session management and delivery for the Prosperity Summit and other relevant Prosperity Now events
Maintain accountability for effective project and budget management.
Other duties as assigned


Either a Master's degree in social work, political science, economics, public affairs, city and regional planning, or other related fields, or an equivalent combination of educational and work experience
Strong project management and business analysis skills required; experience managing complex projects, including partner organizations, multiple sites, governance bodies, external consultants, coalitions and assigned staff. Demonstrable ability to plan project scope and details, and to set priorities and guide investments in people and systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to create resilient relationships, engender trust and work collaboratively. Demonstrable ability to develop relationships with leaders and practitioners in underserved low-income communities, particularly communities of color.
Demonstrated commitment to racial economic justice and equity.
Prior fundraising and donor stewardship experience preferred.
Demonstrated staff management skills, including coaching, team-building and performance management.
Excellent oral communication and presentation skills, in both small and large group formats.
Strong writing experience, with ability to produce pieces for a variety of audiences.
Preference for, and compatibility with, a fast moving, deadline-oriented environment.
Proficiency using PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other software to create effective presentations, documents, and analysis.
Ability to travel as needed to community partner sites, briefings, conferences and convenings and other events.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $126,000 - $147,315

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time as well as intermittently throughout workday.
