Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • The primary function of this position is to provide assistance to the Thin Film Coating Engineering Department.
  • Job functions will include setting up, running and evaluating test runs for process improvements, coating development and new process development activities.
  • Building and assembling of custom set ups and new coating systems.
  • Work with production and engineering departments in order to push project through to completion.
  • Shoot and repair minor equipment issues when needed.
  • Candidate must have very strong understanding of coating processes and coating system operation.
  • Good communication skills including documentation of set ups and test results required.
  • Some programming skills or electrical aptitude a plus.
  • Education & Experience

  • Associates or Technical degree in mechanical field preferred.
  • 3-5 years' relevant experience
  • Skills

  • Strong verbal and written skills required to support ISO 9001 certification standards
  • Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills
  • Work effectively with other members of II-VI Infrared
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Strong "hands-on" mechanical abilities
  • Must communicate with various operators, vendors, suppliers, and engineers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Working Conditions

  • Working in a manufacturing and clean room environment.
  • Some work will be done at a desk, such as CAD drawings. Other work will be in the manufacturing area repairing and trouble shooting problems.
  • Involves working with small to large equipment and high voltages
  • Exposure to low level radioactive material and other hazardous chemicals
  • Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to handle tools and move or lift equipment as needed.
  • May have to climb a step ladder or get down on the floor.
  • Requires high levels of concentration and high attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Safety Requirements

    All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and II-VI Corporate EHS standards.

    Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
