As an Engineering Manager, you will work within the Query Understanding Infrastructure team, and lead a team of software engineers working on horizontal query understanding for all Google products.

In this role, you ll work with engineers from across Google to develop and maintain query understanding infrastructure offering functionality shared across all Google products. You ll be managing a team of engineers, helping grow their careers and ensuring that they are set up for success. You'll also be contributing to leading the broader Query Serving Infrastructure group and Query Understanding organization.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing strategic projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

    • Preferred qualifications:

  • Master s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure and/or distributed systems.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader area, and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug, track, or resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, and coding standards.
