Job Summary

The Flash Engineering Systems Technician will be responsible for assisting the Engineering Department, particularly the Mechanical team, which designs and sustains all Flash Technology and other SPX AtoN products. This position will focus on performing design validation, mechanical development and assembly, and maintenance of remotely located electrical lighting systems, assisting project teams through development and commercial release.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Perform Firmware Validation Testing by following a written test procedure
Assist engineers in the release and processing of Engineering Change Orders (BOM modifications, SAP ERP changes, documentation, etc.)
Assist engineers by performing environmental and light tunnel testing
Build specialized test fixtures as needed for production
Assist in the design and construction of vendor test fixtures
Assembly and disassembly of finished goods or prototypes for evaluation
Evaluate RMA products for defects, damage and design failures
Manage engineering test product inventory and storage
Maintain and install engineering products for environmental and life testing
Inspect first article submissions from vendors
Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specification documents
Prepare sketches and layout for wiring harnesses

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Safe work practices in the laboratory, production, and field environments
Strong interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Ability to travel and work in the field for installations or troubleshooting
Team player, self-starter, results-oriented
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Understanding of data acquisition systems preferred
Labor skills related to carpentry, piping and electrical preferred

Education & Experience:

Required Education / Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent with strong math and computer skills.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive technician or relative manufacturing experience

Preferred Education / Experience

Associates Degree in a relevant technical field.
Mechanical/Electrical assembly line experience.
