Engineering Technician III, Engines Americas Location: Kohler, WIOpportunityAre you a highly organized technical professional with experience supporting product engineering or product testing? If so, Kohler Engines has an excellent opportunity for you!Under the general supervision of Mgr-15HP Development, Engines the technician performs a variety of tests with varying complexity on engines, carburetors, and components to determine life characteristics and failure mechanisms. The position observes and records results of teste. The engineering technician is part of a team responsible for leading innovations in gracious living by supporting the engine and engine component product development process. The role ensures adherence to applicable product compliance requirements including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulations and California Health and Safety Code.Shift: Normal shift hours are 7:00AM - 3:30PM. No consistent overtime requirement. Saturdays on rare occasion if needed.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESSet up instrumentation including thermocouples and pressure transducers and perform a variety of Advanced tests as required (power checks, fuel consumption, governor stability). Set up and operation of high-speed data acquisition, and combustion analysis software. Complete post processing and data analysis of advanced testing. Observe, process, and report test data results with Microsoft Office which may affect outcome of future tests or may lead to new or useful information. Maintain complete records of all scheduled and completed tests including procedures used and result obtained. Review previous records of test engine and equipment to ensure proper testing. Analyze data and make recommendations for significant design modifications. Work with requestor to implement enhancements of engine systems, test systems and test procedures. Provide occasional aid departmental audit functions. Work with outside suppliers and customers to ensure accurate testing and results. Ability to operate lathe, drill press, welding equipment and other related tools along with reading blueprints or engineering documents to prepare equipment and engine parts for testing. Fabricate complex experimental parts. Perform setup, maintenance, and calibration of test equipment as required. Notify supervisor of maintenance and calibration needs to keep equipment functional and compliant. Clean up test area and equipment after use and testing. Maintain or obtain adequate inventory of supplies to perform tests as they are scheduled. Notify appropriate personnel of items that must be ordered. Balance daily workload with prioritization from lab supervisor and/or scheduler. Coordinate the work activities with other technicians as required. Communicate to ensure smooth transition between shifts. Ability to be cross functional in more than one area to fill voids and/or keep steady flow of testing. Prepare sample engines and components for testing to customer application or specification per engineer. Advanced electromechanical equipment understanding. Complete Kohler class (ex. EFI, Teardown, Engines 101). Perform other related duties as required.Skills/RequirementsAssociate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related degree preferred, including knowledge of internal combustion engine theory and application a plus. Minimum 4 years of related technical experience required.
