Job Summary Is responsible for creating and maintaining a professionally groomed stadium field to ensure a meticulous ground surface for a professional sports franchise. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Assist our award-winning grounds crew with game preparation of the baseball and softball fields at Haymarket Park for University of Nebraska and Lincoln Saltdogs events. Assist in the preparation of the playing field for game use by grooming field, chalking, painting and marking designated boxes. Assists with overseeing the preparation of the playing field for pre-game batting practice by setting up cage, screens, mats, and protective field covers Will assist in grooming all turf and landscaped areas in and outside Haymarket Park. Prior to game days will maintain and repair the field according to specifications and regulations. Maintain the water irrigation system including water management of the playing surface and other appropriate surfaces. Will also provide maintenance checks, and repair of leaking lines or valves. At the end of the season will winterize the grounds and prepare for the next season. Other duties may be assigned. Experience/Education

  • High school education and landscape maintenance experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous work experience in a professional sports environment would be very helpful.
  • A valid NE drivers license, a good driving record and be insurable under the company s insurance program is preferred
  • Organizational skills required.
  • Must be able to produce high quality, accurate work while coordinating a sporting venue and schedule.
  • Must be skilled in solving problems with good workable solutions.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule. Must be able to operate grounds equipment safely.
  • Mechanical skill helpful but not necessary.
  • Must be able to work various shifts-days, nights, weekends.
  • Must have a good attendance record.

Working Conditions While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and operate commercial mowers, possibly on grades; requires use of hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb on and off the mower or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop to complete file retrieval or update. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This is a seasonal, part-time position. The position will work outdoors under various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In the stadium area the noise level can get very loud. The facility is a professional baseball environment. Must be flexible regarding the work schedule. Includes 8 hour shifts that could be day shift, night shift or on weekends. This is a tobacco free campus. Condition of Employment Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.
