1. Summary of Position:
The role is within AW609 Flight Control Systems team, which is a part of the Electrical and Avionics Systems group within the Engineering Directorate.
The purpose of the role is to coordinate and carry-out System Engineering and Certification activities within scope of Flight Control System development.
Areas of responsibility include:
Define and manage flight control system development process, producing plan and process documents, supervising development activities and producing monitoring reports
Support Flight control system design validation and qualification against applicable civil regulations and applicable standards
Manage flight control system certification process, producing related airworthiness and certification plan and reports, coordinating activities with certification authorities (FAA and EASA)
Technical management of external suppliers for all aspects pertaining equipment qualification
Coordination of equipment, system and aircraft level testing supporting certification activities
Liaison with Customers, internal and external
Conduct presentations at technical design reviews
2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and carry-out System Engineering and Certification activities within scope of Flight Control System development
Define high-quality plans relevant to the FCS certification and development processes:
Define and Manage Flight Control System validation activities.
Support the Technical Leader in the definition and planning of the activities for the System Reviews of the Flight Control System, with the certification authorities (FAA and EASA)
Manage the timely execution and completion of the System Review and Validation activities, overseeing the effort of the Senior FCS System Engineers
Support the Technical Leader in the planning and management of the certification activities with the certification authorities (FAA and EASA), such as response to Issue Papers, emission and control of the System Specific Certification Plan, equipment qualification testing, system level certification activities (lab and flight)
Support the technical leader in the planning and delivery, to the certification authority of all the certification documentation specified in the FCS SSCP.
Coordination with the Italian based team for the timely completion of the related activities and the emission of the relevant reports, analysis.
Work with the certification authority, in order to support supplier certification and qualification efforts, such as
discussion of the applicability of the cert basis regulations to the specific certification/qualification test
discuss and liaison with the authority and the DERs, on issues pertaining the certification activities, in order to provide a smooth resolution of the issues, with minimal impact on the activities execution (e.g. discuss with the authority the cert documentation issue trackers content)
Support FCS Technical Leader in the management of external suppliers and in the preparation of compliance documentation for showing compliance to the certification authority
Continuously develop talent working in the flight control system team, implement innovative design solutions that leverage advanced FCS and tiltrotor technology as warranted to provide customer value.
Qualifications for Position:
MS Degree qualified in a relevant engineering subject: Electrical/Electronics, Automatic Control, Aerospace Engineering
10+ years Experience in Systems Engineering, flight control system development and civil certification process
5+ years Experience of planning and managing tasks and resource team coordination.

Proven experience of planning and managing development and certification of flight control systems
Proven experience of leadership and coordination of multidisciplinary engineering team
Experience of design, integration and qualification of flight control systems for both rotorcraft and fixed wing aircraft
Knowledge and appreciation of the full Systems Engineering life-cycle
Experience of Technical management of external suppliers
Experience of aerospace and system engineering standards DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, ADS33, AS94900, ARP-4754, ARP-4761
Proven experience of civil certification processes and regulations CS25, CS27, CS29,
Experience with Fly-By-Wire and Tiltrotor Technology
Experience with the role of Compliance Verification Engineer / Designated Engineering Representative
Ability to communicate equally across multi-functional teams, and with colleagues at all levels
Proactive approach on project and in dealing with day-to-day tasks
Analytical and well organized
English and Italian language, both oral and written
Willing to travel
