Description

Directs the Engineering test lab through 2-3 direct reports, and manages a variety of electrical and mechanical tests for safety, compliance, and research information for new product development. Ensures all instrumentation/equipment used for testing is calibrated in accordance with established standards and ensures the product development cycle is not delayed by performing the following duties:

v Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains an up to date equipment log of all lab instrumentation and ensures the instrumentation is calibrated to an established standard at predetermined intervals.

Maintain adequate inventory of lab supplies to ensure timely and accurate completion of tests.

Establish a priority list for testing products based project schedules and assigns test requests to the appropriate lab personnel ensuring the product development cycle will not be delayed.

Develops and maintains a formalized reporting structure for all testing and archives tests results and samples for easy retrieval and reference.

Develop test procedures for new materials (resin, low voltage halogen lighting, etc) to determine conformance with Hunter product.

Work with product development teams by participating in Senior Design Reviews on Core and Showroom fans as needed. The purpose of this participation is to assist in new fan development prior to tooling and production in an effort to prevent production delays and also to ensure safety is an integral part of the design.

Research and spec equipment and instrumentation purchases for the test lab.

Develop an ongoing plan to upgrade the lab with automated technology designed to reduce testing times by utilizing unmanned test stations that record data and perform tests 24 hours a day.

Have involvement, as needed, with Intertek (ETL) personnel in Cortland, NY ensuring the lab maintains its status as an Intertek approved facility within the Satellite program. Ensure the lab is appropriately staffed with Intertek approved personnel who are trained to accurately perform tests and record data which will be submitted to Intertek under the Satellite program.

v Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages all lab test activities with direct supervision of a total of 2-3 employees in the Engineering Test Lab. Has responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Test Lab. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Ability to cope with constant change and competing priorities

Ability to maintain and juggle multiple projects simultaneously

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

v Education and/or Experience

Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or related equivalent experience.

3-5 years experience with degree

5-7 years experience without degree
